Walking

Helvellen

Yep, it was something as simple as walking that spawned all of the other things on this website. One summer me and my dad met some friends up at the Lake District and they convinced us a stab at Helvellen would be a good idea.

After the inital fear of striding edge had been overcome I realised I’d enjoyed it. Over the next five years I did the same route 3 or 4 times when I was up in the Lakes but never ventured anywhere new.

The bug struck

In 2000 I decided that I really fancied a camping trip to Scotland and would take a week off. The outdoors shops were hit and off we went to Shiell Bridge near the Five Sisters of Kintail. We spent a bit of time walking, although no specific routes.

In 2000 there were some quite exceptional floods and getting back from Scotland was pretty bad. The Mondeo I was running at the time made it back, but it took some battering. I considered if we were going to go and do this sort of thing a lot
we’d need a decend car for the job, the idea of a Land Rover was born.

Below is my walking log. (Under Construction)
